Help One Now recently had the opportunity to travel to Uganda with the Live Original Squad – Sadie, John Luke, Mary Kate, Reed and Cole Robertson, as well as Missy and Korie Robertson. They joined us on a Vision Trip to meet Pastor Edward Magumba and his team and determine how they could help support Edward’s passionate work with His Mercy School and the children and communities of Mayuge and Buwenda.
His Mercy School serves over 300 students, and the opportunity and HOPE that is provided by the education being given to those children is changing the community of Mayuge. One such student is named Olivia, and her powerful story is told below:
It is common for schools in rural Uganda to have dormitory space for students in the upper grades, and His Mercy School has that. In the current dormitory, there are 21 girls living in just one room. Some of these girls are orphans in the Help One Now sponsorship program, and others are from vulnerable families where they would be forced to work more than study and be at danger of falling behind. While living at His Mercy School is the best scenario for these girls, the room is incredibly crowded. Furthermore, many other children live just outside the fence of His Mercy School, but there is simply not space for them to receive the same life-changing opportunity that education would provide for them.
The Live Original Squad visited His Mercy School, and they were inspired to join with Help One Now to help bring more children inside the fence. With their help (and yours), Help One Now will build a new dormitory that will be a home for 60 students, meaning FORTY NEW GIRLS–girls just like Olivia–can attend His Mercy School and be given the tools to help change the trajectories of their lives and communities.
You can join with the Live Original Squad by donating here and helping build this new dormitory. Your generosity and support will truly provide incredible opportunity for the new students of His Mercy School.
