One key to success for the high capacity local leaders we work with, is the incredible support staff that work alongside them to move the daily progress toward community transformation forward. They are fully invested in the children and families that they serve and are an integral part of the reason that progress is possible!

Doreen Lubwama is a social worker and is responsible for administrating the Help One Now sponsorship program in Uganda. She spends her days encouraging and pouring in to every child and is committed to helping them achieve their fullest potential. Many of the kids in the sponsorship program lack a social support system-someone to care for them when they are sick, give them advice when they are unsure of what to do and guide them forward as they grow. To these kids, Doreen is more than just a social worker, she is a mentor and friend. She celebrates the highs and endures the lows right alongside them on their journey to adulthood.

Recently one of the kids in the Help One Now sponsorship program, Sarah Nangobi, completed her final year of high school and is preparing to enter nursing school. Sarah is a determined, high-achieving student and she credits much of her success to the support that Doreen has given her along the way. She says “I am so thankful for her. She is the one who took care of me if I was sick and encouraged me every step of the way to work hard.”  In response, Doreen, with tears in her eyes tells Sarah how proud she is of her and rejoices with her as she completes one season and prepares to move in to the next.

Thank you for the part you play in helping every child in the Help One Now sponsorship  program succeed!
