Meseret is 35 years old and lives in Bishoftu, Ethiopia, with her spouse and two daughters. Meseret’s story is an amazing example of the resiliency of the communities we love and serve and the incredible, lasting impact of the Family Business Program.

After facing difficulties finding a job, Meseret began working as a day laborer. The income from this job was not enough to cover her family’s living expenses, but this did not stop Meseret. She continued to work hard and never stopped striving to change her and her family’s lives.

Meseret dreamt of starting her own business, but she didn’t have the start-up capital to do so. She heard about our Family Business Program through a friend and decided to apply. Meseret was accepted, finished her training, and received the support she needed to open her own general store!

Meseret’s business has greatly changed her and her family’s life. She has joined a small business savings group and contributes from her profits each month. Once she has enough savings, Meseret plans on expanding her business into a full-service restaurant and cafe with several employees!

Your support makes stories like this possible! Even amid struggles, the Family Business Program provided a pathway toward sustainability for Meseret and her family. Meseret will move forward in confidence, knowing her family will be taken care of and that she can contribute to her community and country. We are so grateful for your commitment to empowering families around the world.
