Chris Marlow

Chief Executive Officer/Founder

In 2007, Chris met a starving young orphan living in an abandoned gas station in Zimbabwe. That encounter compelled him to start Help One Now and dedicate his life to seeking justice by empowering leaders and organizing tribes to launch global movements that do good. He currently lives in downtown Raleigh with his wife, two daughters and his German Shepherd pup.

Scott Shackleton, CPA, MBA

Chief Financial Officer

Location: Raleigh, NC
Scott built a CPA firm which focused on helping small businesses operate to their maximum effectiveness. He sold that firm in 2006 to devote more time to his life-long passion of serving poor neighbors near and far, and growing in the process. Scott speaks frequently for the American Institute of CPAs and the North Carolina Association of CPAs. Scott earned a BS in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Campbell University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina. Scott has 6 grown children and 2 grandsons. He has visited all 7 Continents, and currently is working on visiting all 50 states and 59 National Parks traveling as many back roads as possible.

Brigid O’Boyle

Brigid began partnering with Help One Now in 2015, and participated in a vision trip to Haiti in early 2016. It was there that she saw the impactful work Help One Now does for the first time, eventually leading her to leave her previous life of clinical research and join the Help One Now team.  She brings her background of project management, system implementation and love of empowering others to the team as Chief Operating Officer as of May 2017.  A true Raleigh native, she gets the pleasure of calling our home-base town her hometown. You can find her around Raleigh on a front porch, or outside café with her dog Smokey when she’s not in the office.

Payton Junkin

Director of Strategic Partnerships

In June of 2011, Payton met an orphaned boy while on a short-term mission trip in Haiti. He and his wife Heather, now call that boy “Son.” Their ongoing journey to bring him from Haiti to home led them to start a non-profit organization which merged with Help One Now in June of 2014. With a background in real estate, church ministry and non-profit work, Payton is passionate to “activate impact” for the communities we serve.  He is a proud Daddy to four boys.  

Lamar Stockton

Director of International Operations

Lamar lives in Austin, TX and has been playing music since he can remember. He’s a doting husband, a proud father, a social activist, a working musician, and a child of God. Lamar loves sweet tea and real books. He is a worship pastor at Austin New Church and the Director of International Operations for Help One Now and works closely with our leaders in Haiti and Africa as they work to restore their communities.

Brennon Bloemendaal

International Field Manager

Brennon recently returned home from 3 years in Haiti, serving as Help One Now’s Haiti Operations Director. He now serves as the coordinator for the international field office program, as well as the curator of all international stories.  When he is not taking pictures in our international communities, you can find him riding his motorcycle all around the sunny California coast. He has worked for over 10 years with non-profits all around the world, and he truly believes in the heart and work of Help One Now in seeing hope, healing, and renewal in the communities we serve!

Genessa Newberry

International Operations Manager

Genessa is a Registered Nurse and has served with Tim as Pastors of Outreach for Keypoint Church as well as being the Arkansas State Director for The Not For Sale Campaign, an anti-human trafficking organization. She brings her medical knowledge, experience in anti-trafficking and her passion for seeing every person become all that God created them to be, to the Help One Now tribe in Africa. She loves sewing, doing anything outdoors, spending time with her family and is famous for for using color to brighten the world around her.

Marissa Pratt

Project Manager

Marissa serves as Project Manager for Help One Now and lives in Raleigh with her husband and three kids. She is passionate about living a life full of adventure, authenticity and purpose. On any given day you’ll find Marissa at the playground with her girls, roasting coffee at Raleigh Coffee Company, or keeping the rest of us in line here at Help One Now. In 2008, Marissa experienced a life changing adventure when she took a year off from the “9 to 5” to participate in The World Race. She traveled to 11 countries in 11 months serving “the least of these” among a community of 30 others doing the same. If you have the chance, ask her about jumping 200 feet into a South African gorge.

Wendy Simmons

Child Sponsorships Coordinator

Wendy is the Child Sponsorships Coordinator for Help One Now. She first joined the team as an intern, making sure sponsors were connected, activated, and involved. She had been involved in community outreach and international mission before becoming a staff member at a local college ministry.

She and her husband Daniel live in North Raleigh with their three amazing kids: Riley, Neely, and Grant

Madeline Robless

Trip Coordinator

Madeline recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in International Relations and minors in German and Social Work. She became involved with Help One Now as an intern working with child sponsorships and has now come into the role of Trip Coordinator. She loves traveling and meeting people from other cultures around the world as well as spending time exploring Raleigh with her friends.



Izabel Rader

Cultivation Coordinator

Izzy moved to Raleigh, NC in March of 2016 to intern for Help One Now. She graduated from Loyola University of New Orleans with a degree in International Business. Upon graduating, Izzy moved to Peru, where she spent her days exploring the Amazon and eating Piranha. Her passion for traveling and exploring different cultures ignited her interest to work for a non-profit that was doing meaningful work and creating real change around the world. Izzy now works full time on the Fundraising team for Help One Now.


Austin Collins

Video Production Coordinator

Before moving to Raleigh for an internship with Help One in 2015, Austin was unsure of what field he wanted to work in. He spent much of his time from 2010-2015 traveling the United States in a band, and later on his own, while off and on attending Tallahassee Community College and working at a local church in Tallahassee Florida. After finishing a degree in communications, Austin was told by an old friend about the innovative work Help One Now was doing to fight extreme poverty in communities around the world, and he immediately knew he wanted to join the team. Austin now works for Help One Now producing videos and other content.

Brooke Uken

Social Media Coordinator

Brooke is a senior at North Carolina State University pursuing two degrees in International Studies and Agribusiness. After six months of being an intern at Help One Now, she moved into the roll of Social Media Coordinator. She has never lived in one place for more than a few years at a time and is her happiest while on an airplane to somewhere new. She spends a lot of her time leading Young Life at a high schools outside of Raleigh, reading on her front porch and exploring the city.
