As we journey together to fight poverty and change the world, we have continuously asked the question, “What if doing good was simple?” And our tribe has proven that indeed it is! Just this year alone, garage sales across the country have raised funds to provide the following:

  • A second water well for our children at Musha Wevana Children’s Home in Zimbabwe
  • 2 homes for families still living in tents 3 ½ years after the earthquake in Haiti
  • A bathroom facility for our children at Yahve Shamma Orphanage in Haiti
  • Construction materials and supplies for Williamson Adrien Academy, a school that will replace the “tent school” at Yahve Shamma Orphange and serve almost 400 children in Haiti
  • A kitchen, playground, and anti-trafficking home # 6 at Ferrier Village in Haiti

These projects are a huge blessing, serving children and communities in some of the toughest areas and poorest countries in the world. Just think-It’s through our excess that allows us to transform these communities by empowering our local leaders and creating hundreds of jobs in Haiti & Africa! And while lives are being changed around the world, they are also being affected in our own backyards. When we host a garage sale in our neighborhood, it not only yields an opportunity for families and friends to serve together, but is an outreach to others that creates interactions for life-changing moments.

In April, you may remember that we rolled out some new changes to our GS4O site to help better facilitate the movement of “doing good.” However, we recognized the need for some minor tweaks and improvements. Over the past few months, our staff and volunteers have worked hard to offer an easier, user-friendly experience to enhance your involvement, equip your tribe and empower you to host the best Garage Sale party ever. We’ve even partnered with Ideation, a creative agency who will help us make Garage Sale for Orphans a global movement for doing good. This is just one step of many that we are committed to in our efforts to raise $1,000,000 in 3 years! (yes, you read that correctly).

Some of these new improvements include a new GS4O video, more projects to choose from with detailed descriptions and image galleries, and new resources to use to promote your garage sale! Of course, none of these enhancements would be complete without our tribe continuing to advocate and spread the word about the Garage Sale for Orphans movement.

These upgraded features couldn’t have come at a better time, as we have some timely projects that urgently need funding. And the good news is that there is still time left in our Garage Sale for Orphans season to get these projects completed!

But we need your help.

Will you host a Garage Sale for Orphans? Or if you’ve already hosted, will you recruit a friend to host?  Our goal is to have 25 more GS4O’s before October.  Funds from these sales will help support nearly 400 children at Williamson Adrien Academy school at Yahve Shamma opening Sept. 3rd, build homes for families in need in Haiti & Uganda, provide a study room for children in Zimbabwe, and much more!

Remember, doing good IS simple. Our excess can change the world!
