It is with much excitement that we announce that our very own Help One Now Founder/CEO Chris Marlow has been nominated for a 2013 Epoch Award!

The Epoch Awards, started in 2011, honor those in the mission field who are challenging and combating the problems in our world. The qualifications for nomination include those giving their lives to missions, discipleship, church planting, anti-trafficking, advocating for the orphaned and widowed, and fighting HIV/AIDS. Six awards totaling $50,000 in cash grants will be awarded at the event being held on October 28th in Atlanta, GA. Featured presenters include Bob Goff, New York Times bestselling author of Love Does, and Jon Acuff, New York Times bestselling author of Quitter & Start.

Chris Marlow founded Help One Now after meeting a starving orphan in the middle of the night at an abandoned gas station in Zimbabwe. The child asked for help; Chris, having no immediate way of assisting him, was forced to say “No.” This one minute encounter changed his life forever. Convicted that he was doing nothing to tangibly care for the fatherless and angry that many churches and organizations were so silent on this issue, he began to research non-profits who were doing orphan care and realized that few organizations were truly innovating in this space. Chris knew Help One Now could bring a fresh approach that would make a big difference. He had no experience and no capital, but launched a startup that would raise over $2 million in just three years.
