Wow, I cannot believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner…life seems to fly by fast!  The past few months have been so good to H.E.L.P., we’re so thankful to see our vision come alive in the hearts of others. The best part is, we get to celebrate these accomplishments this holiday season. We wanted to share with you some cool things that are coming right around the corner.

Christmas is coming soon!

Christmas is drawing near. Time to wrap presents, put up the Christmas tree, listen to holiday music and celebrate the story of Jesus with our family and friends. Take a moment and reflect on what the TRUE meaning of Christmas really is. The Incarnation. Oh man, that is powerful. God sent Jesus to save us; to rescue us. It started with Jesus being willing to incarnate into human history. He left the comforts of heaven to help rescue a people who were lost, hurting and without Him.

Christmas has never been about gifts, or trees, or even cultural traditions. It’s always been about rescue! As God sent Jesus, so God also sends us – His Church to rescue those who suffer. This is a privilege for every God-follower.

This Christmas, I’m gong to ask you to help us move the needle forward and help rescue orphans, restore their hope and renew their communities.

Here’s how you can help:

1) If you sponsored a child in Haiti, Zimbabwe, Uganda or South Africa: We’re going to ask you to consider giving a one-time Christmas gift to your child. That one-time gift will go towards helping your child and his/her community. Be on the look out for more info in the next few weeks!

2) Give to our Haiti Playground Campaign: Pastor Gaetan has asked us to help build a playground which will include a soccer field/basketball court. This playground will be used by the 30 orphans we currently support and by (over 200) kids that attend our school. Play is vital for these kids. December 1st we will have more info on how you can help!

3) Haitian Art for sale this Christmas: We’ve partnered with a local Haitian artist, we’ve given him a $500 micro-loan and commissioned him to paint 50 pieces of art.  He will triple his investment, which will help expand his business.  Furthermore, we will also use a portion of the revenue to launch our micro-finance campaign in Haiti. Through these funds, we will give three Haitian pastors a loan so they can expand their business, create jobs and provide for their families. You can buy an art piece as a Christmas gift and help create jobs in Haiti!

4) End-of-the-year giving: The harsh reality is this: H.E.L.P. operates on a shoe-string budget. Sometimes it’s painful. If we’re going to really go to the next level, we’re going to have to increase our monthly and one-time giving partners. End-of-the-year giving is vital for non-profits, we need our 2011 end-of-the-year giving to be strong so we can carry that momentum into 2012.  We have some amazing opportunities waiting for us in 2012 and we want to make sure we take advantage of them.

So, we’re going to ask you to partner with us and give to H.E.L.P’s operations fund.  100% of these funds will be used to help us operate at a higher level. This is vital for us to become a sustainable organization that makes an impact for decades. Please know, that every-time we ask for help, we understand that many of you truly give sacrificially. We are grateful or your sacrifice, support and generosity! In 2012, we will do our very best to continue our mission to be a global tribe dedicated to ending extreme poverty by helping to rescue orphans, restore their hope and renew their communities.

We can’t do this without your help and partnership!
