Letter from CEO
Hello Help One Now Family,
Every year has its own story – that’s what I’ve learned leading Help One Now for ten years. We pray, plan and focus on executing the vision. But, each year we’re always ready to be agile, because the work we do can be unpredictable.
So, how do we do it?
That is a question I get asked often and it’s simple. We have three ingredients that are critical for us to mix together: Our amazing local leaders, the Help One Now team and board, and of course our donors, whom we consider family.
Our leaders work hard in the field, each and every day. The Help One Now team is passionate about the vision; we want to make sure our leaders have the resources they need to see change in their communities. Our donors give generously again and again and serve as the fuel that stokes the mission. They want to see these leaders empowered so families can thrive and communities will be transformed.
You might have noticed a switch in language as we focus more on Family Empowerment. We’ve been passionate about keeping families together these past four years and now, it is our mission. After a decade of caring for orphans we realized that the majority of these kids came from loving families. Yet, because of extreme poverty, these families could not stay together. We recognized the need to work upstream to empower families through education and economic development. If we could do that, families would be able to stay together.
I believe this is essential to eradicating poverty and seeing communities fully transformed.
2018 was amazing! I’m proud of our work and our team; we accomplished much and we are so thankful. That said, we are even more excited about 2019 and beyond. Our hope – our goal – our dream – our passion is to see 100,000 families empowered over the next ten years, which will impact 3-5 million people.
So take a moment to celebrate the progress of 2018 as you review the details below. Each of these data points represents a child, a parent, or a community with a newfound hope for their future. But also say a prayer for 2019 as we start a new chapter in our history together – we will need you now more than ever!

Kairos Village officially opened its doors in 2018! We have worked closely with the local government and Anti-Trafficking Task Force to develop the best solutions to combat trafficking in the Lareto region of Peru. The Village is serving as the only current after-care facility in the region, acting as a refuge and place of healing and renewal for those rescued from trafficking.
As rescued individuals have begun arriving at Kairos Village, our leaders and house moms will be working diligently to guide and support them on their journey of healing and restoration. The Village will also be working to understand how it can best grow and serve the community as a place of care and rescue in the year ahead.
Ferrier Secondary School
We partnered with Big League Impact and MLB players to build a secondary school in Haiti. Kyle Gibson, Brian Dozier, Zach Duke, and Logan Morrison partnered with BLI to invite fans and supporters to work together to make the school a reality. The school will be the premier secondary school in northern Haiti, serving several communities in the surrounding area. The school will also allow for expansion to the already existing Pre-School and Primary School.
Not only will the school provide quality education for 1,500 students, but it will also create dozens of jobs and empower hundreds of families throughout the community. Construction is under way, and the school will open its doors this coming fall!
