2015 Annual Report

Letter From The CEO

As 2015 came to an end and 2016 has launched, I can’t help but be humbled at what Help One Now was able to accomplish in just twelve short months. When everyday folks band together to sponsor children, support initiatives, throw Garage Sale 4 Orphans parties, and join The Foundation—when you do all of this to empower our local leaders, the real heroes of our story, to care for children and enact change in their communities? It’s beautiful to witness.

For example, in 2015, we served over 750,000 meals, which is an increase of over 50% from the year before! Thousands of children are in school, dozens of teachers are being paid a fair, living wage, and, thanks to 2014’s Legacy Project, we opened a preschool in Ferrier Village.

We also forged new partnerships in 2015. Our friends in MLB were able to help get Help One Now as a featured charity for the Minnesota Twins, and that relationship has extended to the MLB Players Association and beyond. Crystal Paine, a New York Times best-selling author and owner of the incredibly popular MoneySavingMom.com, helped us fundraise for new facilities and buildings in our two South Africa communities.

The opportunities that we have in 2016 are amazing. We’ll start overseeing two new communities in two new countries – the Dominican Republic and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. There are amazing trips planned with some of our favorite people, new buildings to construct, and before we know it, it will be time to launch the Legacy project again! It’s hard to imagine where we’ll be in 2017, but we know that it’s only possible through your help. Struggle for progress; together we build!

Democratic Republic of Congo

N’sele is a community within the sprawling city of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Decades of war and political instability have left these beautiful, hardworking people with little infrastructure for education, health care, or even clean water. So, Mwangaza International launched a Hope Group to facilitate intervention through empowerment, orphan care, and health.
